We have driven the Stuart highway in April this year and marked the map for daily ride distances, water availability, camp sites and other accommodation. The road is in very good condition with a narrow shoulder most which provides a bit of distance from vehicles passing.

We have also checked wind maps which show travelling north will provide the most relief from headwinds. Thanks to a good mate, Dick Marquardt, who only 1 month ago rode from Adelaide to Darwin, I am now going in the right direction. I was originally going to ride south.
Thank you to the excellent services of Australia Post I have parcels sent ahead of me to restock the saddle bags. The kindness and assistance people offer on a trip never ceases to amaze me. Each parcel has everything from dehydrated food, medical supplies, surprise treat from Fiona and the kid and about 20 other miscellaneous items.

The bike has been totally overhauled and special non puncture tyres fitted……..now its just keeping the legs moving.
